Aura by Trendsetter Yarns
100% Nylon, 50 grams/skein, 145 yards/skein, STS/IN NEEDLE: 5sts = 1" #8
There is something luminescent about this yarn. For some they say it looks like Easter Grass until they feel this yarn. It is soft and luscious and is so much fun to knit. I put Aura in almost everything because it adds a soft shine to everything that it is near.

Shibui Knits Trunk Show

Now at YBD boutique through October 31st.

NO. 7 /ALISON BROOKBANKS
Loose and flowing, No. 7 is a unique garment that lies somewhere between poncho and sweater. The loose sleeves, wide boat neck, and oversized fit create a cozy shape. Seed stitch gives the Baby Alpaca and Merino Alpaca fabric an extra-plush feel. Cinch a belt around the waist for a more refined look, or let it drape freely for casual elegance. The distinctive construction is suited for intermediate knitters or those welcoming a new challenge!

NO. 8 /LIDIA TSYMBAL
Play up two contrasting colors in Mix No. 8, a luxurious sleeveless top with a cool gradient look. Knit with three strands of Cima held together, No. 8 achieves its unique ombre look through gradual switching of colors. Plush and cozy, No. 8’s merino and alpaca blend is perfect for cool-weather wardrobes. A bright hue and a subtle neutral create a hip, youthful pairing, or try a combination of rich neutrals for a refined, elegant garment.

NO. 9 /KRISTIN SPURKLAND
Elegant and striking, this infinity scarf is knit with the luxe combination of Staccato and Silk Cloud. An allover seed stitch variation provides textural appeal and allows the fibers to show off their silken sheen. Deceptively easy to knit, No. 9 begins as a flat rectangle, then is given a twist before seaming to create a Moebius-style wrap. Wear it long and loose, doubled around the neck, or pulled up to create a hood: it's the perfect all-in-one accessory.

NO. 10 /KRISTIN FORD
Classic colorwork goes modern with the addition of bright, hip hues of Cima. Held double throughout, the superbaby alpaca and fine merino blend gives No. 10 a lightweight yet cozy feel. Skinny vertical stripes of varying color provide an appealing graphic look, while a plush pompom on top adds a fun touch of whimsy. The slip stitch stripe design makes No. 10 an excellent first colorwork project.

NO. 11 /KRISTIN FORD
Baby Alpaca and Staccato unite to create the dense, marled fabric of No. 11. Long, slim sleeves and a funnel neck are the basis of this flattering silhouette. The Rickrack Rib pattern is simple to knit and memorize, but adds a rich textural depth to the pullover. Knit in the round with minimal finishing, No. 11 is easy to knit and a delight to wear.

NO. 12 /LIDIA TSYMBAL
Knit with plump Merino Alpaca and downy Silk Cloud, No. 12 is a must-have accessory for chilly winter climes. The cozy hood fits under a coat and provides insulation from insidious breezes on even the coldest days. A plush waffle stitch pattern provides interesting texture and extra warmth. Begun in the round, then worked similarly to a sock heel, the unique construction is a great way to practice a variety of techniques.

October Knit Happy Club

2012-10-09_Image-3

YBD wants to share with you a few photos from the Knit Happy Club. The ladies were showing off their first completed project, Simple Seed Stitch Scarf. The scarves were worked with Rowan Purelife Revive. Each student was to create an edge for their scarf. Each and every one of the creative edges look beautiful and are exactly that, 'creative'!

Rowan Purelife Revive is made from used garments which have been selected according to the silk, cotton and viscose content. These are then carded to make regenerated fiber, which is then spun into this beautiful, high quality yarn, which gives life to new hand knitting designs.
