Summer Yarns at YBD

Here are two examples of beautiful summer fibers we have at the boutique to compliment your summer projects.

Rowan Purelife Revive
Purelife revive is Rowan's wonderful tweed effect, fully recycled summer yarn. It has a beautiful rusticity.
Fibre Content: Recycled Cotton: 36%, Recycled Silk: 36%, Recycled Viscose: 28%
Season: Spring Summer
Weight: 50g
Yardage: 137
Tension/Gauge Stitches: 22

Recycling is becoming increasingly important in a world coming to terms with the challenges of environmental, economic and climatic change. Rowan Purelife Revive is made from used garments which have been selected according to the silk, cotton and viscose content. These are then carded to make regenerated fiber, which is then spun into this beautiful, high quality yarn, which gives life to new hand knitting designs.

Thank You

The staff at YBD would like to thank each and every one of you who stopped by for our Grand (Re)Opening Event!

Our instructors had a blast teaching their free classes throughout the day. Judy was busy guiding students on their new path to knitting Chemo Caps. Marilyn inspired first-time knitters to the wonderful world of knitting by introducing needles, casting on and knitting rows back and forth. Tammy did the very same thing but through crochet. She also captivated everyone with her crocheted bunnies and needle felted cat which our customer helped us name, Kitchner (you must stop by and check these out!)! And Devon, was busy demonstrating both the drop spindle and spinning wheel. It was such a beautiful day that she was able to find comfort sitting out front.

I can not forget to mention all of the wonderful NEW fibers from SKACEL. Donna did such an amazing job with all of her samples which only made it easier for us to order just about everything new for FALL 2012! We just had to take a photo of the cutie modeling a new garment from the line.

And, as if that was enough fun, we also had a handful of winners for our raffles...Diane won four pattern books of Miss. Bea's, Helene has a wonderful new project from Spud & Chloe the Bumble-Up Scarf kit, the Blue Sky Alpacas Market Tote kit went to Linda, Amanda was the lucky winner of 5 skeins of Malabrigo's lucius Silky/Sock and Rowan's Cora Scarf kit went to Susan. Congratulations to all of the lucky winners!

Here are a few photos to share from the day...
