Dream Club & Knit Club

It is the time of year to register for a club at YBD. Both the Dream Club and Knit Club will provide a season of creativity, that will engage both your mind and body. When one knits socially, the benefits are great. One increases their social skills and establishes friendships that can last a life-time. Besides the obvious advantage of creating useful articles and garments, knitters enjoy a host of health benefits both physical and psychological. Register with a friend and you both will receive $5.00 off (please mention offer).

Dream Club:
The Dream Club features the Dream-In-Color yarns in colors only available to club members. Even though the yarn, color and pattern are a surprise (it's part of the fun!), we can tell you that there will be a variety of yarn weights and fiber blends featured throughout the course of the club.

Every month from September 2013 until March 2014 (minus December), we will offer a unique colorway paired with a pattern specifically created to showcase that month’s yarn.

Dream Club Membership is $250 for 6 months (yarn & pattern are included). Pre-registration is required, space is limited.

Knit Club:
The Knit Club also meets monthly and focuses on improving our knitting techniques and skills. Edye will meet with the students to pick out the selection of projects for the season. Each student will learn how to take measurements for the perfect fit. This club is great for the students whom want a more in-depth course on knitting.

The Yarns By Design Knit Club is a Members Only Club that will meet monthly from September - April (no December meeting). Club Meetings are one Tuesday (5:15-6:45pm) or Saturday (11:00-12:30pm) of every month.

Each month you’ll have lots of fun, receive exclusive boutique offers & discounts throughout the 2013-2014 season, receive 10% off on purchases the night of the club, receive 20% off the fiber needed for the monthly project, learn a new technique and knit a project using that month’s technique.

Club Membership is $100.00 for 7 months. Pre-registration is required, space is limited.

Habu Textiles Wrapped Silk

Anna by Julie Weisenberger

Anna is knitted sideways from cuff to cuff with big needles. This makes her a quick and seamless knit with a very open, net-like fabric. You begin at the cuff of one ribbed sleeve, continue across the body in reverse stockinette stitch with an asymmetrical hemline and end with the second ribbed sleeve. Anna is great over a tank or t-shirt to add coverage without adding too much extra warmth.

Wrapped Silk by Habu Textiles is a great fiber to knit Anna with. 4 strands of fine merino is wrapped in super fine silk. Because it is wrapped, not plied, the colors show in a very subtle way in between each other. Has a good stretch. At the Yarns By Design boutique, we have every color available.

Cedar Leaf Shawlette

Yarns By Design is a participant of Ravelry's In-Store Pattern Sales Program.

How it works:
YBD can search for patterns available through this service and YBD sells them to customers through the boutique. The pattern will be printed, emailed or saved to the customer’s Ravelry library.

Featuring:
Cedar Leaf Shawlette by Alana Dakos

A beautiful, crescent shaped, little shawl that drapes beautifully around your shoulders and looks absolutely stunning wrapped around your neck as a scarf. The curved shape of the shawl is created through the use of short rows. The leafy border is knit on once the body of the shawl is completed.

Yarns By Design suggests knitting this shawlette with Nashua's Creative Focus Linen. The lustrous blend of cotton and linen is an amazing deal with 220 yards per skein! You'll enjoy working with it and wearing the finished project. This blend shows off stitch patterns beautifully. YBD has an array of bright colors to choose from.

Zitron Unisono

Yarns By Design is a participant of Ravelry's In-Store Pattern Sales Program.

How it works:
YBD can search for patterns available through this service and YBD sells them to customers through the boutique. The pattern will be printed, emailed or saved to the customer’s Ravelry library.

Featuring:
Hitchiker by Martina Behm

Garter stitch. It‘s simple, its warm and squishy, stretchy and reversible and it makes any variegated, hand-dyed sockyarn really shine. So here‘s Hitchhiker: It is a narrow, slightly asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette that can be wrapped around the neck several times. The ends are long enough to tie it with a knot. One of the short sides of the triangle features a saw-tooth border that evolves naturally during the knitting and gives the shawl its unusual shape. Because the knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl. A perfect project to relax in between more complicated ones, also very suitable for beginners and young knitters.

Yarns By Design has the perfect fiber for you to knit this project with, Zitron Unisono. This new fiber to the YBD boutique infuses extrafine merino with aloe and jojoba oil. Your hands will be super happy as you are knitting, and your skin will thank you as you wear the finished project.

Below are a few of our favorite colors which are available at the YBD boutique.

Habu Textiles Cotton Gima Print

Linen Top by Kat Coyle

This free pattern is a good summer knitting project (no heavy wool here) and a good summer top to wear. The work is done from side to side and stretches open quite a bit after blocking.

© GanomyLove

The suggested fiber to knit this airy summer top with is Cotton Gima Print by Habu Textiles. This is a "printed" cotton Gima. Gima means "fake linen" in Japanese. It feels like linen, and softens up greatly as soon as you handle or wash it. Only 3-4 balls of this yarn will make a whole garment. Yarns By Design has a selection of color options to choose from, see below of a few of our favorites.

Habu Textiles Cotton Gima

Gisela by Julie Weisenberger

Cocoknits designed this garment especially for you. Because if you are a woman of a certain age and your upper arms are not what you’d like them to be (and you’re too busy knitting to go the gym) this cardigan allows you to wear sleeveless tanks while diverting attention from your upper arms. And for all body types, this cardigan is a perfect amount of sexy.

Our sample of Gisela is knit with Cotton Gima by Habu Textiles. Gima means to "fake linen" in Japanese. It feels like linen, but does soften up greatly as soon as you handle or wash it. Only 3-4 balls of this yarn will make a whole garment. Good warp yarn also.

At the Yarns By Design boutique we have a large selection of colors to choose from. Here is a tasting of what you will see.
